Fair Dove

Hail to you, O Virgin, the right and true Queen. Hail to the pride of our race, who bore to us Immanuel.
We ask you to remember us,  O our faithful advocate, before our Lord Jesus Christ, that He may forgive us our sins. First Doxology of Kiahk

Fair Dove is a 40-minute collection of eleven "Hymns for the Coptic Month of Kiahk." In the Coptic Orthodox Church tradition, Kiahk is part of the Advent season leading into Christmas. Being part of the Advent season, the songs exude a spirit of joy and anticipation as they announce the imminent birth of Christ Jesus on Christmas day, while also honouring Christ's mother Mary.

The selected hymns are chanted in both the English and Coptic languages. Choir members worked collaboratively to translate some of the Coptic hymns to English. They also went to great lengths to ensure English translations retained each hymn's original meaning, rhythm, structure, melody and intonation.

To achieve greater authenticity, the hymns are sung acoustically and cymbals and a triangle are the only accompanying instruments.

Fair Dove was recorded and mixed by Steve Vertigan at Soggy Dog Studios located in the leafy Dandenong Ranges.

Fair Dove can now be purchased online and is available on iTunesAmazon, and Spotify
